Laparoscopic / Minimally Invasive Surgery
Our practice has been a pioneer in the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques, including laparoscopic removal of the gallbladder or colon and laparoscopic repair of hiatal hernias. Results of procedures performed by Norfolk Surgical Group physicians are presented at surgical conferences and published in national journals. The group is also actively involved in clinical research to advance the field of laparoscopic surgery.

Colon Rectal Surgery
The Norfolk Surgical Group offers compassionate subspecialty expertise in the management of common and complex diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. We offer colon rectal cancer screening (colonoscopy). We emphasize a non-surgical approach to hemorrhoids and fissures, and we offer treatment for fecal incontinence and rectal prolapse. In addition, we offer patients sphincter preserving surgery (avoidance of permanent stoma) for rectal cancer and ulcerative colitis (J-pouch). We emphasize the laparoscopic approach to colon rectal diseases such as diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease) and colon tumors.

Bariatric Surgery
Our practice has over 25 years of experience in baratric surgery. We offer minimally invasive gastric bypass surgery. We also provide long-term support to our patients and have an active baratric surgery support group.

Breast Surgery
Our practice offers special expertise in breast surgery, including innovative, less invasive breast biopsy techniques. State-of-the-art procedures for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer continues to be an area of particular interest. Our practice has broad experience in sentinel node biopsy, stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast conservation procedures.

Surgical Oncology
Norfolk Surgical Group is dedicated to providing comprehensive surgical care for cancer patients. Special interests include procedures for colon, rectum, breast, pancreatic, esophageal and lung cancer, as well as malignant melanoma and sarcoma. Norfolk Surgical Group cancer patients benefit from multidisciplinary cancer care which included individual case conferences and consultation with experts in chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Thoracic Surgery
All forms of non-cardiac thoracic surgery are performed by Norfolk Surgical Group. The practice has a special proficieny in the management of lung cancer, esophagus disorders and video-assisted thoracic surgery.

Endocrine Surgery
NSG has a long history of expertise in surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.
